This week's new recipe: Golumpki, also called Polish Stuffed Cabbage Rolls. It's called golumpki because the shape resembles a pigeon breast. For me the word is still hard to pronounce.
Method
Step 1: Remove core from cabbage. Place in a pot of boiling water to cover and cook for 10-15 minutes. Drain, cool and seperate leaves. Trim down thick stem on each leaf.
Step 2: Saute minced onion with butter or margarine.
Step 3: In large bowl mix thoroughly the meat, rice, onion, egg, salt, pepper, garlic, sage and marjoram.
Step 4: Arrange the stuffing on the cabbage leafs, roll it and place together in a baking dish or Dutch oven.
Step 5: Cover with boiling salted water, bake in 375 degrees oven until brown. Serve topped with stewed tomato sauce.
